for how to get around. Congratulations President-elect Obama.

Nice to hear.

I just wanted to say Thank You to HGBA for some of the services that I have used in getting my new business off the ground.

Amelia (past President, HGBA) and Marcus (past Vice President, HGBA)at BB&T helped with advice, budgeting and financing to allow me to get my new business off the ground. Through HGBA we were able to find John Parsons to get our construction finalized on schedule. My initial participation with the last HGBA website, gave me the encouragement to create one for our new business.

I just wanted to share my story of how the HGBA community can and should be used as a B2B resource. Thank you again to HGBA for providing the people and opportunities that we needed to get this thing started!

I would love to see more stories like mine of people using HGBA to find the resources they need to start/run their enterprises.

-Mike Biancaniello, Kid Drop Zone

Thanks Mike, we are going to do just that. For those of you with stories to share, we'd like to give back. We will be providing space online and providing a link to your enterprise. We will have a short form all ready for you at our January meeting. Of course you can always email communications@hgba.biz.

Last Town Hall Meeting "Transportation - Didya Knows"

Quintin Kendall addressed the crowd first stating that the USDOT was originally created to build the Eisenhower Interstate system. This is now complete and without clear direction the USDOT more resembles a pot of money looking for a problem. Given this lack of focus, many USDOT policies are contradictory and very complex. This creates difficulties for state and local governments when pursuing transportation projects using federal dollars.

Mr. Kendall provided the following website www.fightgridlocknow.gov for residents to investigate if they would like any further information on the proposed changes to the USDOT.

Avtar Singh (former HGBA speaker) was the next speaker and provided information regarding the Gainesville Interchange. This is a VDOT project and has been subdivided into several phases. The current phase includes widening I-66 to eight lanes from Route 234 Bypass to shortly after Route 29 and upgrading the interchange itself, building several new bridges, on ramps and off ramps.

The final phase of the project will include the Linton Hall Interchange. This phase is currently in design and right-of way acquisition. Demolition should be complete in December 2010. Construction is anticipated to begin in March 2011 and be complete in March 2015. The total cost of the project is $223.2 million.

We will be watching.
