I-66 Blasting operations on Monday 6th April 2009 through Thursday 10th April 2009. As part of the ongoing construction operations on the I-66 project in Gainesville, all lanes of I-66 will be shutdown with the help of Virginia State Police and/or Prince William County Police (on University Boulevard) to allow blasting operations to be safely carried out. The project staff and the contractor have met with the Fire Marshal and Prince William Police to discuss the blasting operations. The shutdown will be from 11 am to 11:15 am and from 1 pm to 1:15 pm every day. We will be advising the VDOT Smart Traffic Center and WTOP of the exact time of the shutdown in case of any unforeseen changes. The blasting will be carried out on I-66 (at mile marker 44) between Route 234 Bypass and the University Boulevard overpass. As such, I-66 Westbound traffic will be stopped at the 234 Bypass, I-66 Eastbound traffic will be stopped just past the bridge over Route 29, and University Boulevard will be stopped either side of the bridge approaches. Variable message boards have been placed on I-66 and University Boulevard to advise the traveling public of this work. | ||
