The committee was created through the collaborative efforts of cities, counties, government agencies, businesses, non-profit organizations, transportation authorities, and leaders from across the nation, with the goal of forming a comprehensive national transportation policy. The inaugural meeting for the Committee was held at the 1st Annual Transportation Convention in Washington, DC., on March 5-7, 2008. Supervisor Stirrup took part in the very successful meeting in Jacksonville, FL, on May 15-16, 2008, the Committee will next be meeting in Kansas City, MO, on July 17-18, 2008. |
